Why come into therapy?
Life can be challenging and you may wonder to what extent it is you, or others that contribute to the conflicting thoughts, and feelings you experience. If this sounds familiar, then coming into therapy will help to create insight. Getting caught up in dynamics where there is irresolvable unhappiness, self-sabotaging cycles, sadness, anger, fear, or distress, can create isolation, along with anxiety and depression.
As an experienced psychotherapist I can provide support so you can achieve a greater understanding of your issues, and ultimately create change in your life. I believe the answers are within you, and yet they are out of conscious awareness, and so we will work together so that you can find them.
Introduction:
My name is Lorraine Davis, and I am a psychotherapist with an MSc Integrative Psychotherapy from Metanoia Training Institute. In addition, I am a qualified Supervisor (please see the section on Supervision) with a certificate in Supervision from Metanoia. I am a registered member of UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists) and I adhere to their ethical framework - visit UKCP .
Practicing integratively means I draw from a framework of different therapy models, and techniques using them creatively and flexibly for each person I work with. I am interested in the quality of relationships, socially, historically, and culturally and so I take a relational approach. This means we will explore how your past relationships influence the present, along with the relationship you have with self, and the impact that the therapeutic relationship has on you.
I offer and can provide therapy to all individuals inclusive of sexual orientation, culture, race, gender status and diversity. I have worked with clients who have struggled with complexity surrounding cultural and sexual identity.
I have over ten years experience of working with clients on a wide range of emotional difficulties, and identity, which (I believe) emerges from childhood experiences, which are often repetitive, and can be subtle, yet there is a huge impact on self-esteem and self-worth. My areas of interest and expertise are the emphasis on childhood developmental trauma, and the inner conflicts, emotional struggles, and coping mechanisms that are created as a result of either what was missing, or how we directly experienced others. I also have an interest in relationship problems relating to adultery, infidelity, and the impact this has regardless of the role of the individual.
I work with adult clients on a one to one basis, as well as couples too.
What is the cost?
My charge for individual clients is £65.00 per session whether it's for a daytime or evening (50 minute sessions)
For couples I charge £120.00 per session (50 minutes)
If my fees are not affordable, depending on your income I can offer a discount for those on lower incomes, subject to discussion and availability.
