Why come into therapy?
Life can be challenging and you may wonder to what extent it is you, or others that contribute to the conflicting thoughts, and feelings you experience. If this sounds familiar, then therapy can help to create insight.
Getting caught up in dynamics where there is irresolvable unhappiness, self-sabotaging patterns, can create distress, and isolation, along with anxiety and depression. Along with an impact on self-esteem, self-worth, identity and your sense of purpose. As an experienced psychotherapist I can provide support so you can achieve a greater understanding of your issues, relationship with self, and ultimately create change in your life. The answers are within you, and yet they are out of conscious awareness, and so we will work together so that you can find them.
Introduction:
My name is Lorraine Davis, and I am a psychotherapist with an MSc Integrative Psychotherapy from Metanoia Training Institute, London. In addition, I am a qualified Supervisor (please see the section on Supervision). I am a registered member of UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapists) and I adhere to their ethical framework - visit UKCP .
Practicing integratively means I draw from a framework of therapeutic models, and techniques using them creatively for each person I work with. I am interested in the quality of relationships, socially, historically, and culturally and so I take a relational approach. I will explore how your past relationships influence those in the present, along with the relationship you have with self, and the impact that the therapeutic relationship has on you too.
I work with all individuals inclusive of sexual orientation, culture, race, gender status, age and diversity. I have experience of working with individuals who have struggled with complexity surrounding cultural and sexual identity.
I have over ten years experience of working with people on a wide range of emotional difficulties, which (I believe) emerges from adverse childhood experiences. My areas of interest and expertise are related to the field of developmental trauma (emotional, psychological, sexual and physical abuse) and the inner conflicts, and coping mechanisms that are created as a result of either what was missing, or how you directly experienced others. These patterns can create lasting legacies of relationship problems with self and others. I also have an interest in relationship problems relating to adultery, infidelity, and the impact this has regardless of the role of the individual.
I work with adult clients on a one to one basis, as well as couples too.
What is the cost?
I have a sliding scale of charges for clients based on your salary as follows:
From £20000 to £30000 my fees are £60 per session
From £30000 to £50000 I charge £65 per session
From £50000 to £70000 I charge £70 per session
From £70000 upwards I charge £75 per session
I am open to negotiation and all fees are discussed in relation to a client's personal circumstances. If you earn less than £20000 I can offer a discount subject to availability for lower cost work.
For couples work I charge £130.00 per session for 50/55 minutes. If you require longer sessions for intance for 100/110 minutes this will be charged pro-rata. Please visit the FAQ section of this site for more information.
For supervision sessions I charge £65 per session for 50/55 minutes.
Location:
I am able to offer sessions face to face, online (Zoom or FaceTime), as well as over the telephone.
I have a room in Aspley Guise MK17 8DP, within easy reach of Milton Keynes, Bedford, Leighton Buzzard, Newport Pagnell, Ampthill, Flitwick and other surrounding towns and villages.
